DIRTY LAUNDRY: SCANDALOUS DETAILS ARTISTS REVEAL IN SONGS

Kelly Rowland is just the latest musician to air things out.

*Kelly Rowland's new track "Ditry Laundry" is just that—and boy, does she air it out. In the intensely, bravely personal song from the singer's upcoming album Talk a Good Game,

Kelly confesses that she sometimes feels jealous of Beyoncé and even details a physically abusive relationship in her past.

The track, which left the internet buzzing with respect and surprise, was released last Wednesday and will be included on Rowland’s fourth album. Talk a Good Game is scheduled for a June 18 release.

Rowland sang, “When my sister was on stage / killing it like a m__f___/ I was in a rage / feeling it like a m__f___.

While the intra-group envy interested some, others identified with the abuse message. Intimate partner violence affects millions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Rowland sang about her ex putting his hands on her and creating an environment of terror. “Hitting the window like it was me / And still it shattered. He pulled me out and said, ‘Don’t nobody love you but me / Not your mama / Not your daddy / and especially not Bey.’”

Rowland told Billboard magazine that the track was so painful to record that it was not anybody’s one-and-done.

“It was very emotional. It took me days to record,” Rowland said. “I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it. I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me. Dream [the producer] said, ‘I want to write you a record so that people will know exactly who you are, underneath it all.’”

Rowland’s bravery reminded some of the precariousness of sanity and image. However, uncomfortable truths permeate throughout the song. “They say airing your dirty laundry in public is uncouth, but when your entire life is in the spotlight, they’re bound to see it anyway,” Emily Blake wrote for MTV.com.

Song supporters included former band-mate Letoya Luckett, Gabrielle Union, Holly Robinson Peete and Jackee Harry. In addition to her album’s June release, Entertainment Weekly reported that Rowland is expected to judge on Fox Network’s musical show The X Factor.

Of course, Kelly isn't the first musician to put it all out there.

Read on for other artists who've aired their own dirty laundry.

Eminem, "Cleaning Out My Closet"

Eminem is no stranger to putting his business on wax, but the third verse of this 2002 song is especially shocking. Going at his mother, Em accuses her of popping pills, says she has a psychological condition, and vows she won't ever meet his daughter.

Kanye West, "Way Too Cold"
Of course, Kanye's had his own oversharing musical moments involving Kim. On this 2012 track he admitted he fell in love with her "at the same time she fell in love him"— meaning ex-husband Kris Humphries.

Ray J, "I Hit It First"

Ray J's recent single, which was covered by a blurred-out image of his ex—and current Kanye West baby mama—Kim Kardashian, was TMI on a grand scale. "And if you were to come back to me, girl, I'll get it wet—jacuzzi," he sings. Admittedly, it's not that revealing compared to their sex tape.

Usher, Confessions

Usher put it all out there on this 2004 chart-topper, singing in heartbreaking fashion about cheating on with ex-girlfriend Chili.

Jay-Z, "Superugly"

Jay-Z's "Superugly" has to be one of the tackiest moments in hip hop history. In the 2002 song, Jay claims that he slept with then rival Nas' baby mother while the two were together—and even left a condom wrapper on his daughter's baby seat. Gross.

Jermaine Jackson, "Word to the Badd!"

Supposedly prompted by eight months or unreturned phone calls, Jermaine called out his brother on this 1991 track, criticizing him for allegedly changing his skin color and getting plastic surgery.
